Marie Pauls, musician

Marie Pauls (viola, violin) is a versatile freelance musician based in Madison, WI. She earned both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received a full scholarship to study with Professor Sally Chisholm. 

Marie is an active chamber musician, and serves as an artistic director with Oakwood Chamber Players. She is a member of the LunART Chamber Music Collective, a group which champions works by women composers through performance and recordings. 

A seasoned orchestral musician, she performs with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and has held principal viola positions in the Illinois Valley and Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestras. Beyond the classical realm, she performs with the acoustic rock group Evan Riley Band, with whom she has recorded three original albums.
